SHIELD
Dark green represents the United States Army and white symbolizes virtue. The espontoon, a polearm carried by Army commissioned and non-commissioned officers during the Revolutionary War, illustrates the United States Army Heritage and Education Center's mission of acquiring, preserving and interpreting three dimensional artifacts. The writing quill represents the historians, students and authors who utilize the United States Army Heritage and Education Center in their research. The quill and espontoon support the shield (escutcheon) which is composed of thirteen red and white stripes, representing the original states all joined. The blue chief unites the stripes and represents Congress.
CREST
The open book illustrates the United States Army Heritage and Education Center's vast archival holdings and the Roman numerals "MMI" translate to "2001," the year that the Center was founded.
SUPPORTERS
The two golden torches represent members of the United States Army and the public, the two primary audiences of the United States Army Heritage and Education Center.
